The 23-year-old victim was walking along the path from Buttsgrove Way to Coneygear Road at 4.15am on Thursday (December 1) when he was set upon by a group of men. They approached him, kicked and punched him and stole his wallet and mobile phone, before a member of the public shouted at the group to stop, and the victim ran away. He suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital as a precaution, but later discharged. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. One of the men in the group had a mountain bike with him, and they were all wearing dark clothing. One is described as wearing a woollen hat with a black and white scarf around his neck and face. DC Rachael Ryan, investigating, said: Were keen to trace a member of the public who was in the area and shouted stop to the group which allowed the victim to run away. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this group. We have increased patrols in the area and Im keen to gather any information that could help us bring the offenders to justice. Anyone with information should contact DC Rachael Ryan at Huntingdon Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
