Dozens of enthusiasts joined a convoy of classic MG cars earlier this month to deliver presents to children at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

A group of around 20 members from the Cambridgeshire and District MG Owners Club met at Riverside Car Park, in St Neots, to ride to Holly Ward.

Before the Father Christmas Run took place, club members decked their cars in tinsel, baubles and even reindeer antlers to create a festive feel.

Chris Shurlock, club secretary, said: "When we were on the drive we had lots of people look at us as well as many toots and waves from people as we were quite a spectacle going through the streets."

Once the covoy had arrived at the hospital, Santa and his helper visited youngsters on Holly Ward - many of whom were excited to see Mr Claus walk through the door.

"It was great to be able to give children presents - it made it all worthwhile. Many of the children were excited as they had been told that Father Christmas was coming in his MG - we had a great response from them," Mr Shurlock added.

Now in its second year Mr Shurlock hopes that the convoy can become bigger and better.

The MG club has around 90 members and is looking for more to sign up to share in the passion.
