Bloor Homes submitted an outline planning application to build up to 215 new homes on land to the east of Old Pinewood Way and Ridgeway. South Cambridgeshire District Councils planning committee voted to approve the development, subject to the signing of a Section 106 legal agreement through which Bloor will provide funding for numerous improvements to community facilities. Contributions will include £1.4 million to expand the Pendragon Primary School, as well as funding towards healthcare provision, a new cycle link with Cambourne, and enhancements to the existing bus routes to Huntingdon and Cambridge. The proposals also include land reserved for nursery education, more than 10 acres of open space, including equipped play areas, and planting along the northern boundary of Papworth Wood. Andrew Marns, regional managing director for Bloor Homes Eastern, said: The site is located in a sustainable location within walking distance of the villages range of amenities and is well served by public transport, factors which were highlighted by the planning officer in his report to the committee.
