A community group has joined together with local businesses to create a little festive sparkle this year.
Brampton Events Group will be lighting up nine trees on the village green, with all the lights having been paid for by pledges from local businesses.
It is believed to be the first time in decades that the village will have a dedicated lights display.
Tina Sacks, chairman of Brampton Events Group, said: “The village has not had festive lights for over 45 years so we are delighted to be able to change this. We have been overwhelmed by the response so far, we had aimed to light six trees and due to our fabulous local business, we are going to light up many more.” The lights will be switched on Sunday, November 26, at 4.30pm. The switch-on event will see the community coming together on the village green with Brampton and Wyton military wives choir singing along with Brampton School choir.
The Women’s Institute will be serving mince pies and hot chocolate, Brampton Village Primary School will be serving hot dogs and mulled wine, Days Butchers serving a hog roast and Brampton Brownies serving cakes and drinks.
The event has been supported by Highways England’s A14 integrated delivery team, which is putting the lights in the trees on the village green.
“With so much development work being undertaken in around the village we felt it was really important to support this community event and spread some festive cheer,” said Vhari Russell, founder of the Food Marketing Expert and Brampton resident.
