Earith Primary School has become part of the Active Learning Trust academy group.

The move was confirmed on January 1 after the trust received confirmation of the school’s funding agreement from Secretary of State for Education, Justine Greening.

Sian Pritchard, will act as executive head teacher of the school.

The Active Learning Trust also runs Kingsfield Primary School, in Chatteris, Neale Wade Academy, in March, and the Isle of Ely Primary School, in Ely, among others.

Earith, which received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted during its last inspection in July 2016, is a small school, made up of three classes. It was built in 1975.

Chief executive of the Active Learning Trust, Gary Peile, said: “I am delighted that the secretary of state has approved Earith Primary School joining our trust.

“Our schools and the wider trust team look forward to working with staff and parents and carers at the school in meeting the aspirations of the young people of Earith. The new management model we are able to offer, with Sian Pritchard working as executive head teacher working across our schools in Cambridgeshire, offer lots of exciting opportunities for the school in the coming year.”
