The organisers of Brampton Village Fete said the “excellent” public support for this year’s event helped make it a resounding success.

The fete returned at the weekend with a host of craft stalls, activities, games and bouncy castles for visitors to the village to enjoy.

The Women’s Institute run a tea and cake tent and Thirsty, a Cambridge-based drinks company which specialises in craft beers and wine, also joined in by bringing along a converted bus.

Tina Sacks, chairman of the Brampton Events Group, which organised the fete, said: “We also had face painting, splat the rat, treasure hunts, beat the goalie and an assault course provided by the air cadets. A dog show was held, we had line dancing, a demonstration from Constellations Dance Company and a karate display.

“The children’s races were very popular and the tug of war in particular, seemed to bring the whole village together.”

The fete was arranged by the Brampton Events Group which was created last year to put on local events for villagers.

The group hopes to raise funds to supply lights for the village green at Christmas, but will also help to fund other community events.

Ms Sacks added: “We had excellent support from the village and everyone seemed to have a great time.”
