Police have called off the search of a stretch of river for today (Tuesday) following claims that a man jumped off a bridge into the River Great Ouse at Little Paxton.

The force received a call at 4pm yesterday (Monday) after a witness said they thought they saw a man jumping into the river at Mill Lane.

The man was described as in his 30s, with short or balding hair, and wearing a red T-shirt.

Inspector Dave Greenwood said: “We have had no reports of a missing person who matches this man’s description.

“Therefore we are urging people to make contact with anyone they know, who they have not heard from since about 4pm yesterday, who matches this description.

“Searches continue today, along with partner agencies, and we ask anyone with information to come forward.”
