A MAN was taken to hospital after his van turned on its side on the A14 on Saturday night (July 21).

Emergency services rushed to Spittals Interchange at 6.45pm to reports of a van that had crashed into the central reservation and rolled down the carriageway.

The man, in his 30s, suffered serious injuries to his lower arm and severe skin abrasion to his back.

The A14 was closed in both directions for the Magpas Helicopter to land on the carriageway.

Helimedix Doctor Ali Tompkins and paramedic Adam Carr gave the man pain relief and antibiotics before taking him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Firefighters from Huntingdon and Cambridge attended but were not needed.
