A St Neots-based theatre group managed to raise more than £400 for charity during a recent performance at the town’s Priory Centre.

St Neots VAMPS performed the adult puppet show Avenue Q and during performances, collection buckets were passed around.

“As part of the show the monsters raise money to build a school, and the cast join together to sing The Money Song,” said Katherine from VAMPS.

“It is quite common for charity buckets to be passed round audiences at this point and VAMPS thought this was the perfect chance to raise some money for the local charity, Team Emilio.

Hannah Byatt, Fran Catling and Fearn Chin were busy training for the marathon for The Neuro Foundation so the show was perfectly timed to raise awareness for the team as well as raising some cash.

“Ticket sales for the show went well, which meant all four performances were well attended and the money collected for the charity was £410.33.”

Now the show has closed and the puppets have been safely stored away in their boxes, the VAMPS are starting rehearsals for their next show Legally Blonde in November.
