Gransden and District Agricultural Society is set to hold this year’s Gransden Show on Saturday, September 29.

The event is to take place at the show field in Caxton Road, Great Gransden, and will include a day of entertainment for the whole family.

The main ring will see performances including horse, falconry and donkey displays, an animal parade, music from Cottenham Brass Band and a vintage vehicle parade.

There will also be a host of competitions in areas including horses, livestock, homefare and produce, flower arranging, pigeons and dogs as well as demonstrations, attractions, stalls and around 100 trade stands.

Rural property specialist Fisher German is supporting the event for the fourth year, and is this year sponsoring the members’ marquee.

June Jukes, secretary of Gransden and District Agricultural Society, said: “The show has been running since 1891 and gets bigger and better year on year. It is an extremely popular event with families, and has something for everyone to enjoy.

“As well as the main ring entertainment there is much more to see including, poultry and small animal displays, a mounted games demonstration, a parade of The Hunt followed by the adorable basset hounds, and various country crafts.

“A Punch and Judy show and story time are just a couple of the children’s activities and of course there is a good range of refreshments for people to enjoy.

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to this year’s event and are hoping for a dry day.”

Matthew Ayres, of Fisher German, added: “The Gransden Show is a very well-known event and always proves popular with people from across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, attracting around 8,000 visitors.

“It remains one of a reducing number of country shows still being held on a regular basis and this year’s event promises to be to be an exciting and entertaining day out for the whole family.

“We have sponsored the country show in recent years, and are extremely proud to support such a long-standing event.”

Admission to the Gransden Show 2018 is from 9am and entry is priced at £10 for adults, £5 for 11 to 18-year-olds and is free for children under 11. Parking is also free for those attending the event.
