A man who was found dead from a shotgun wound in a cemetery has been named by locals.

A man who was found dead from a shotgun wound in a cemetery on Wednesday has been named by locals.

The victim, is believed to be Reginald Perry, known as John, from Hill Close, though he has not been formally identified.

It is thought he was in his 60s or 70s.

A police spokesman said on Wednesday: "Police were called at 10.52am to reports of concern for an individual at the cemetery in St Andrews Way, Sawtry.

"Officers arrived at the scene to find a man with a shotgun wound. Air ambulance attended however the man was pronounced dead at 11.45am."

A witness who passed the cemetery in the morning said: "There were 10 police cars there, and the cemetery was entirely cordoned off. There was also a white forensics van."
