UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after three-vehicle smash on A14 at Hemingford Abbots

A MAN was trapped in their car after a three-vehicle crash on the A14 at Hemingford Abbots this morning (Thursday).

Firefighters had to extract the man following the crash involving a silver Mercedes, a silver Peugeot and a van, on the eastbound carriageway shortly before 8.43am between junctions 24 and 26.

The man, in his late 20s, suffered a head injury. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and is believed to have serious but not life threatening injuries.

Fire crews from Huntingdon and Cambridge were sent to a crash that came five minutes before further along the A14 at Dry Drayton. They were redirected to the crash at Hemingford Abbots after being told they weren’t needed.

Magpas Helimedix Dr Ali Tompkins and paramedic Donna White gave the man strong pain killers and anti-sickness drugs.

Another woman was escorted to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Drivers faced 30 minute delays after the road was closed. It was reopened by 11.20am.
