The A1 has been reopened following an accident between a car and a lorry this morning (Monday).

Two lanes were shut after a blue MG was spun round and pushed onto the next lane in a crash with a Scania truck.

Police were called at 7.18am, and closed both lanes of the A1 southbound carriageway at Southoe. The impact with the central reservation damaged about 12 barriers.

A police spokesman said that no injuries were sustained in the accident and that the road was cleared at 11.31am.
