Created by Earith man Chris Law, the shed has been shortlisted in the budget category in the Shed of the Year awards set to be featured on Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.

The unique design of the shed allows Chris, 61, to live comfortably with his partner Julie, and there is even room for the couple’s cat, Kitty, to come and go as she pleases.

Chris’s creation, which measures 6ft 4” by 11ft 3”, also comes complete with a toilet, shower, upstairs living space, sofa, and an abundance of carefully hidden storage for their clothing and possessions.

Despite there being less than 100sq ft of space, Julie, 49, said the couple took quickly to their new accommodation.

She said: “It is very cosy and living here has been lovely. It has a beautiful view and I really can’t grumble. We have adapted to living here and we get on well, which is a big help.

“I feel totally safe in the shed, it doesn’t even move when it’s windy. He has built it so well and we have never had so much as a leak. Chris is even thinking about building another one!”

While the couple don’t plan on living in the shed permanently, it has been mounted on wheels which will allow them to take it away with them in future.

It took Chris, who works as a carpenter at a marina in the village, about a year to design and build the shed and Julie was so impressed with the result that she decided to enter it for the Shed of the Year awards.

The couple will feature in a short segment alongside three other finalists in their category on an upcoming episode of the show, which is scheduled to air on September 10.
