CAMBRIDGESHIRE police reported another normal night across the county as extra patrols continued in the wake of the riots in London and other English cities.

Officers said it was a typical Friday night in the county with no reports of unrest.

However, officers and staff will continue to work through rest days on 12 hour shifts over the weekend to ensure there are sufficient resources in the county, the police added.

The county's force is also continuing to send officers to London - a further two units are going to the capital today (Saturday) and the same again tomorrow (Sunday).

Deputy Chief Constable John Feavyour said: "Last night officers experienced a typical Friday night in the county.

"We are pleased to say there were no incidents of disorder related to the national incidents of unrest. Our increased presence will continue throughout the weekend to ensure that our county remains quiet."
