TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of metal theft after police were called to reports of people digging up cables with torches in St Ives.
Officers, including a dog unit, were sent to a site in Houghton Grange, St Ives, at 7pm yesterday (Tuesday).
The men aged 52 and 43, both from St Neots, were arrested in a nearby wooded area and are being held at Huntingdon Police Station.
Police had received reports of suspicious activity in the area earlier in the day.
INFORMATION: Police are tackling metal theft and other rural crime through Operation Gandalf. Anyone who sees suspicious activity, particularly at isolated locations, should contact police on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
