Two charged in connection with doorstep shooting in Godmanchester.

TWO men have been charged in connection with a doorstep shooting in Godmanchester.

The 41-year-old victim was shot in the groin after answering the door of a friend’s semi-detached house in Anderson Crescent, Godmanchester.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge with a single wound described as serious but not life threatening and was discharged on Monday (June 7).

On Saturday (June 12) police arrested two men in connection with the shooting, which took place on Tuesday, June 1.

Martin Hunt, 56, of Dowthorpe End, Earls Barton and Travis Pratt, 28, of Station Road, Earls Barton, have been charged with wounding with intent and aggravated burglary. Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates Court this morning (Monday).

A 47-year-old man from Peterborough has been released on police bail until July 27. A fourth man, a 24-year-old from Wellingborough was arrested this week on suspicion of assault.

The victim of the shooting is from Godmanchester and was believed to have been house-sitting at the property when he was shot.

He was found by a neighbour lying in a pool of blood in the doorway.

Neighbours described the shooting as “awful” and “shocking”.

Former Godmanchester mayor, Cllr David Brown described it as “disappointing” and said it had cast a dark cloud over the town.
