TWO men were arrested yesterday (Wednesday) on suspicion of cultivating cannabis at addresses in Huntingdon.
The pair, aged 46 and 30, were arrested during a high-impact day of action in Operation Surf, in which nearly 60 officers hit the streets of Huntingdon and Wisbech. Cannabis plants were also seized.
Four warrants were carried out, and a total of 13 people were arrested.
Working with partner agencies including Huntingdonshire District Council and Fenland District Council, officers also carried out licensing checks, a SpeedWatch operation, immigration checks with the UKBA and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) checks.
Seven drivers were fined for various roads offences, an uninsured vehicle was seized and a number of car owners will be sent letters alerting them to the fact they had left valuables on display in their unattended vehicles.
The other arrests were for a variety of offences including theft, assault, drugs, burglary and criminal damage.
Inspector David Liddle said: “This was a successful day of action to disrupt criminal activity in Wisbech and Huntingdon.
“Criminals should be warned that we will continue to carry out these high impact days targeting anyone breaking the law.”
INFORMATION: Anyone with any information about criminal activity should call police on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
