A St Neots dance school is celebrating a run of success which has been rounded off by a triumphant weekend at a national competition.

Langdale Dance Arts (LDA), based at the Bargroves Youth Centre and run by teacher and freelance performer Tom Langdale, took part in a two-day competition in Clacton, Essex last weekend. The school attended the Starz national dance competition and took a group of 40 students and entered more than 50 routines.

“We’ve been practicing and working for months,” said school principal Mr Langdale.

Overall, LDA walked away from the event with 22 first and 12 second place trophies. Alongside these - students also received a multitude of other awards, including two title awards (Starz mini miss winner Florence Green and Starz Teen Miss Winner, Tag Garwood, as well as the coveted senior freestyle trophy won by Ben Fletcher. Tag Garwood also went on to win the Starz ultimate up for gaining the most points of any solo elite entrant over the weekend.

“We are ecstatic with the results,” said Mr Langdale.

“This has been a fabulous year for LDA and the school is going from strength to strength. Our dancers attend a multitude of local annual events including the mayors charity ball and the St Neots Christmas lights switch on, but it is amazing to take these kids across the country, to compete against other schools and perform in front of even larger audiences. It’s a great way for dancers of all ages to come together and show how hard they have all been training. The amount of wins they achieved is testament to their talent and dedication.”
