Tribute has been paid to former St Neots man David Davies who died suddenly after a road collision on December 2.

Mr Davies, aged 39, was hit by a vehicle as he walked along the eastbound carriageway of the A505 Luton Road, near Offley, in Hertfordshire, at about 7pm.

Although he had been living in Stevenage prior to his death, Mr Davies, who worked in the catering industry, spent most of his life in St Neots where he had a large network of family and friends.

He was born in Queensway, St Neots, the second child of Dave, and the late, Collette, and was brother to Carla, Christopher and Mark. He attended Eynesbury Church of England Primary School and later Longsands Secondary School and has been described as someone who was fun-loving and easy going and who loved to socialise.

“He was a really loving brother and his death came as a huge shock,” said younger brother Chris.

“We will all miss his fun-loving personality. Although he had moved away, he kept in touch and loved spending time with his five nieces and nephews. He helped me move house recently and I am so glad I got to spend that time with him.”

Mr Davies loved to socialise and enjoyed taking part in karaoke.

The family have said they are happy for friends to attend the funeral.

The service will be held on December 22 at Eynesbury Parish Church at 3pm and then a committal will take place at Cambridge Crematorium at 4.30pm. There will also be a wake at the RAFA club in Huntingdon Street, St Neots, after the funeral.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Mr Davies’s death. A post mortem examination was carried out on December 7 and an inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned. The full inquest will be held at a later date.
