The site, which used to be the Warehouse Clearance shop, in Market Hill, has been transformed into a modern pub and restaurant, set to open on April 4.

In a nod to the rich history of pubs in the town, the establishment will be called The Swan and Angel – two long-lost pubs marked on an early 18th Century map of St Ives – and will feature artwork and images celebrating St Ives inside.

The chain has invested £1.9 million in the development and created 60 new jobs for the town, but, ahead of its development, caused months of dispute for neighbours over fears of noise, an increase in crime, and the impact on other pubs in the town.

The chain agreed to fit extractor fans with silencers, signs alerting people to a 9pm closing time in its beer garden, and pushed back its desired opening time of 7am to 8am.

It was also granted a premises license in September, and will be allowed to serve alcohol every day from 9am to midnight, and until 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Before it was a clearance shop, the unit was made up of two three-storey properties which were demolished in 1968 and turned into a supermarket.

The plot has also been a music shop, and before the 1940s was home to Radford’s household furnishers for about 60 years.

Michael Loveridge, manager of the new pub, said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and we are confident that it will be a great addition to the St Ives community.”

The new pub will be open from 8am to midnight Sunday to Thursday, and 8am to 1am Friday and Saturday.

Food will be served throughout the day, from opening till 11pm, every day.
