The wall, located off The Quay, has been transformed into a vivid riverside scene courtesy of St Ives artist Denny Gaudin, who worked tirelessly in order to complete the piece.

The work, which measures about 160sq ft, features an array of flora and fauna, and represents the River Great Ouse that runs through the heart of the town.

Mrs Gaudin, who estimates it took about 400 hours to create the mural, said: “About a year ago I was passing what was on the wall before, which was faded and peeling, so I approached the owner of the house and said ‘would you like me to restore it’ and he couldn’t believe his luck.”

She said that the owner of the house – Dr George Smerson - “loved” the finished mural and added that it had attracted plenty of praise from passers-by.
