At the annual town meeting, The Mayor of Ramsey, Councillor Ian Walker discussed the redevelopment of the Grand site, where the council had taken the lead in rejecting the first application by Luminus Group for a building regarded as inappropriate for the site. The council held a number of discussions with Luminus and Huntingdonshire District Council, but the re-design was felt to be some way short of the town's aspirations, he said. The town council said it understood that the design was being continually amended. The Northern Gateway development, including a Tesco supermarket, had made no discernible progress in the previous 12 months. A resident raised the possibility of Newtown Green being used for car parking. The mayor reported that, as part of the development of the Grand site, HDC might decide to sell the car park in New Road. If so, the town council would expect other car parking facilities to be provided, but would not contemplate a reduction in grass areas. Comments were made that the Mews Close car park was normally full of cars belonging to people working in Ramsey, andthat shoppers had nowhere to park.
