Staff, patients and visitors at Hinchingbrooke Hospital enjoyed some tea and cake and managed to raise hundreds of pounds for Dementia UK.

The Time for a Cuppa event on March 1 was organised to raise funds for the charity and highlight the work of admiral nurses who work with patients with dementia and support their families.

There are currently 184 admiral nurses working across England, Scotland and Wales and Dementia UK’s target is to have 200 in place by the end of March. Hinchingbrooke’s admiral nurse, Angela Moore, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to all to everyone who supported Time for a Cuppa to raise money for Dementia UK and the work of admiral nurses. It has been a huge success and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The event, which was held in the entrance of the main hospital, raised £703.

Dr Hilda Hayo, chief admiral nurse at Dementia UK, added: “We know that living with dementia can be a hard and lonely experience. Admiral nurses work together with families to come up with the practical solutions they need to live more positively with dementia each and every day. Time for a Cuppa tea parties help us raise the essential funds to create more Admiral Nurses and we’re very grateful to everyone who holds one.”
