The incident took place at about 7pm on Saturday (March 12), with adrenaline junkies using a crowbar to jemmy the door at the base of a wind turbine in St Marys Road. They then accessed the roof hatch and jumped off the turbine while wearing parachutes, a pursuit known as base jumping. There were no reports of any injuries in the incident. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police: Not only has a criminal offence been committed by breaking into the wind turbine, but this act was extremely dangerous and could have ended horribly. We would like to remind members of the public about the dangers of such activity and advise against any such actions. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
