THREE shops are at risk in Huntingdonshire as the country’s biggest card retailer faces administration.
Clinton Cards, which operates 628 Clintons and 139 Birthdays shops, faces closure after American Greetings bought the card retailer’s 35million of loans from Barclays and the Royal Bank of Scotland and said it will push the company into administration later today.
The company has shops in Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots, and has faced tough competition from supermarkets and Internet sites such as Moonpig and Funky Pigeon.
The chain was founded in 1968 by Don Lewin who opened the first shop in Epping, Essex.
