CCTV images have been released in a bid to trace two men who stole more than 16,000 worth of sports and music memorabilia from a Huntingdon hotel.

The signed goods were ordered from a Romford company in February this year by a man who said he wanted them for a charity auction.

He asked for them to be sent to the Marriott Hotel, at Hinchingbrooke Park, Huntingdon.

On March 4, the items arrived at the hotel and were collected from the reception by two men who claimed they were going to show them to guests in the bar. However, the men did not return and the items were not paid for.

The hotel did have an auction taking place that weekend but police believe the men used this as a cover.

Items stolen include a signed Michael Jackson Thriller, original vinyl LP with a reserve auction price of 1,300, a Beatles Revolver LP with a reserve price of 7,000 and a Floyd Mayweather boxing glove with a reserve price of 395.

DC Vanessa Dodds, who is investigating, said: “This is a high value theft that appears to have been well planned. It may well be those responsible are not from this county and may well have committed similar offences elsewhere in the country.

“I would like to speak to the men pictured in these images as they could have important information. I would also appeal for anyone else with information about this crime or anyone who knows the whereabouts of these items to get in touch.”

Officers have also released a CCTV image of the car believed to have been used by the thieves.
