Organisers say about 3,000 people flocked to Godmanchester at the weekend to enjoy the annual East Anglian Model Railway Exhibition.
Hosted by St Neots Model Railway Club, the event took place on Saturday and Sunday and saw almost 40 layouts on display for visitors to enjoy, as well as dozens of trade stands and exhibitors selling railway accessories.
It is the third time the event has taken place at the Wood Green Animal Centre and exhibition manager, Jackie Younger, told The Hunts Post it is fast becoming one of the biggest events of its kind in the East.
She said: “We have a very good reputation for hosting an excellent event. It is one of the biggest shows in the region now and we are very grateful to Wood Green and to the public for supporting it.”
Mrs Younger also said attendances were up on last year.
The mayor of Godmanchester, Councillor Peter Morgan, attended the event and picked a layout named Overlord, which highlighted the importance of the railways in the Second World War, as the winner of the Jim Curle Shield.
Overlord, compiled by Chris Mead, also won the Brian Rawlings Shield, which is voted for by visitors to the exhibition.
Money raised across the weekend will be donated to The Broadway Farm Group, based in St Ives, Wood Green Animal Charity, and The Firefighters Charity.
The event is scheduled to return to Godmanchester again next year, from March 10-11.
