PUPILS and staff at Thorndown Infant and Junior Schools in St Ives have bid to be Guinness World Record-breakers.
Exactly 229 people dressed up as sunflowers on the day - the highest number of people to ever have done so before was 116.
School business manager Helen Cooper came up with the idea to go for a world record after looking through the Guinness World Record book with her son.
Pupils and staff created their own sunflower head-dresses and green trousers handmade by parents and grandparents with material donated by the PTA were sold for the occasion.
The sale of the trousers raised �260 which will go to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.
The school is currently awaiting official confirmation of their achievement.
