A pub in Hemingford Grey has been voted the best in the country by the Good Pub Guide.

It is the second time The Cock has brought home the title, after winning for the first time in 2013.

The pub, which is situated in High Street, is part of the Cambs Cuisine group, which also manages the Three Horeshoes in Madingley, the Cambridge Chop House, and Smokeworks

Founder of the pub, Oliver Thain said: “We’re utterly thrilled to win this award. We have owned the pub for nearly 20 years and to receive this recognition for our consistency, dedication and high standards is a huge compliment from the biggest Pub guide in the UK.

“We have worked really hard to keep a local pub in the community with fine beer alongside the restaurant. Both have separate entrances and space so the regular pub goer doesn’t feel alienated by the food element and the restaurant goer is able to enjoy a different occasion.

“Our team here deserve the adulation and of course we thank our wonderfully loyal customers who have supported us for all of these years. Celebrations have started.”

Every year, the Good Pub Guide editors select the best pubs from across the country to be awarded a collection of national awards.
