Tesco has employed a security officer after a spate of thefts at its Express store on Loves Farm in St Neots.

The branch on Kester Way has been subjected to sufficient shoplifting incidents for the firm to employ a full-time security guard to police the shop and deter would-be thieves.

PSCO Daniel Grant reported that while crime on the estate is generally low, theft has become an issue at the shop and asks that if anyone shopping there sees anything suspicious, they should inform a member of staff.

“Tesco have now employed a security officer at the store,” said PCSO Grant. “And I plan on working in partnership with him to reduce thefts at the store.

“Can I advise all residents if they are approached door-to-door and offered items, such as joints of meat or coffee, at extremely low prices that they inform myself or ring 101.”

A spokesman for Tesco said: “Keeping our stores safe and secure is always a priority for us.”
