TELEPHONE lines have been restored at The Hunts Post and possibly dozens of other businesses in Huntingdon after they were down for nearly 12 hours yesterday.

A fault with part of a BT exchange left nearly 2000 ISDN lines in the town not working from 7.30am until 6.30pm.

The problem meant businesses were unable to make or receive calls, though homes in the area were not thought to be affected.

ISDN or Integrated Services Digital Network provides digital transmission of voice, video, data, and other network services over the telephone network.
