A TEENAGER was hit by a train at a level crossing in Holme last night (Sunday).

The man, believed to be 18-years-old and from Peterborough was struck by a train at Holme Lode level crossing travelling to London King's Cross from Edinburgh at 9.30pm.

First Capital Connect cancelled one train and two others were terminated before reaching their destinations.

Doctor Jon Birks, from Magpas Helimedix, pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to Holme Lode level crossing following the report of a man being struck by a train.

"BTP and Cambridgeshire police officers attended the incident, which was reported to police at 9.31pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."

A Magpas spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Trains were running as normal by 11.35pm.

This morning's disruption on First Capital Connect services between Peterborough and London was due to signalling problems.
