A pair of former Kimbolton School teachers, who have been charged with a number of sexual offences against children, have had their cases sent to crown court.

Simon Ball, 41, of Coombe Avenue, in Greenwich, and Scott Whitlock, 45, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday).

The charges against the two men are unrelated.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: "The pair appeared in court but neither put forward a plea and they will now appear at Peterborough Crown Court on May 3."

Ball was charged on March 2 with five counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 17, one count of making indecent images of children, one count of possessing indecent images of children, and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14.

He was also charged with a further two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16, and five counts of abusing of position of trust.

Whitlock was charged on March 1 with two counts of making indecent images of a child, one count of possessing indecent images of a child, one count of distributing indecent images of a child and one count of publishing an obscene article.

Both have been bailed to appear at Peterborough Crown Court on May 3.

When the charges were brought, back in March, Kimbolton School issued a statement, saying: "The well-being of the children at the school is our overriding priority. We have given the authorities every assistance during their investigations into these two, unconnected cases. As they remain a police matter, there is nothing more that I may say."
