Residents in St Ives will pay an extra £3.60 for the town’s part of Council Tax.

Members of St Ives Town Council set the precept for the forthcoming year at £119.17 per band D property, up from £115.57, after agreeing last Wednesday its budget at £681,530.

It equates to a 3.11 per cent rise from the current financial year.

Mayor Councillor Brian Luter said he was uncomfortable with setting the precept above two per cent and asked for suggestions to cut the bill. However no proposals were agreed.

Councillors Jason Ablewhite, John Davies and Debbie Townsend voted against the budget.
