Godmanchester residents of all ages demonstrated their skills and talents at the town show on Saturday.

As well as an impressive array of home-grown produce, there were mouth-watering preserves, chutneys and cakes, floral arrangements art, woodwork, photography and crafts.

St Mary’s Church was busy all afternoon as the town turned out to see the winners receive their awards and to admire the efforts of all who submitted entries. There was also an opportunity to recognise those who have helped make our streets greener with pots, planters and baskets over the summer months. Mike Grice, co-ordinator of the show’s organising committee, said: “This was the third year of the show and I was very pleased with the turnout. We had more than 700 entries and the children’s section was well supported, with some 220 entries from St Anne’s School.

“Our new arts section had 48 entries ranging from an entry by a three-year-old and some excellent paintings and drawings. We have very talented people in Godmanchester in all aspects of the show and we had a pumpkin entered which was big enough to turn into Cinderella’s coach.”
