A community radio station is looking for new presenters, producers and researchers to join its ranks.

Huntingdon Community Radio (HCRfm), which has been on the airwaves full time for six years, is offering opportunities for anyone interesting in broadcasting to try their hand at a range of voluntary roles.

No previous experience in broadcasting is necessary, only an interest in the field, with all training provided by the team at the Huntingdon-based station.

Station managing director, Bill Hensley, said: “Applicants don’t need qualifications, all they need to be is computer literate, for the production side of things, have a little creativity, and good organisational skills.

“We don’t need people to have experience in radio, we just need volunteers who are willing and we will teach them the HCRfm way.”

Mr Hensley said it was a “great opportunity” for someone who wanted to get involved in the community and try their hand at broadcasting. There is no age limit for applicants.

Mr Hensley said: “Volunteers can commit from an hour a week, up to five or 10 hours a week if they have the time.”

HCRfm hosts a variety of shows in its lineup, from sports shows at the weekend, to regular drivetime, breakfast, and late shows during weekdays. It also runs an award-winning soap opera, Huntsford, and a student show.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the opportunities available at the station, based in Saxongate, off Huntingdon’s High Street, can contact Mr Hensley on 07767823424.
