A swimming teacher in Huntingdon has received a prestigious national award for her lifetime of service to the sport.
Patsy Coleman, who runs Splash Academy at Hinchingbrooke School, has been recognised by the Swimming Teachers’ Association UK (STA) with its Cross of Merit.
The teacher, who lives in St Neots, has dedicated her working life to helping youngsters learn how to swim.
Starting as a teen, her teaching career has spanned a staggering 50 years, including coaching the likes of the British Paralympics Team from 1993 to 1997.
Patsy was also involved in the IPC World Championships in 1994, with the team taking first place before heading back in 1995 with 36 gold, 32 silver and 23 bronzes medals adding to their tally.
Patsy will receive her award at a special presenta-tion in Huntingdon in the new year.
