The 24-year-old suffered serious facial injuries after he was assaulted near The Whaddons at around 6.50pm on Saturday (November 5), and spent two nights in hospital. Police believe that there were several witnesses to the incident and have appealed for them to do the right thing. The victim was walking along the alleyway close to the park between The Whaddons and Martin Luther King Close when he was approached by two men. One of the men racially abused the man before assaulting him with a brick. Both men then left the area. The victim went to hospital the following day and was transferred to Addenbrookes where he remained until yesterday (Tuesday). Dc Kirsten Kitchen said: This was a nasty assault and it is important that we trace the two men involved. There was a bonfire in Thongsley at the time of the assault and there were a number of people in the area who witnessed this assault who have not yet come forward and I would urge those people to do the right thing and contact me. If witnesses do not want to talk to police they can call Crimestoppers, anonymously.
