Success for residents of St Neots housing estate in campaign for long-awaited community centre

Residents of a St Neots housing estate have emerged victorious following a campaign to get their long-awaited community centre off the ground.
Cambridgeshire County Council has agreed to contribute towards the funding for the Loves Farm community centre, which is expected to include a hall, meeting rooms, café, youth services and office space.
The £1.6million project costs are being shared between Huntingdonshire District Council, roughly 60 per cent, and the remainder from CCC.
St Neots Town Council has also set aside £60,000 for the scheme.
A contractor has been appointed and the building is expected to be completed by spring next year.

St Neots councillor Barry Chapman said: “I am pleased to have received the support of both county and district councils in delivering a much enhanced facility for residents.”
Philip Gibbs, vice chairman of Loves Farm Community Association, said: “It is all good news as far as we are concerned – we have not had any for the last four years. It will give people a focal point for drawing them together.”
