College student Keiran Clemmence is set to return to his former school, Godmanchester Primary, to become an apprentice teaching assistant.
Keiran, 17, who studied at Huntingdonshire Regional College, was encouraged to take up the apprenticeship after he impressed staff during a work experience placement at the school.
In his new role, which will continue for at least a year, Kieran will be working with children in Reception and Key Stage 1 classes.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge. It’s going to be fun to take on more responsibility and also to be paid while I’m still learning.
“I really enjoy teaching the creative activities with the children and I would like to move on to become a higher level teaching assistant or teacher one day.”
