A lane of the A14 near Huntingdon was closed for almost eight hours today (Friday) after a diesel spillage.

Cambridgeshire police were called at about 7am following reports that a large amount of diesel had spilled on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 just before the Spittals roundabout, on the inside lane.

A spokesman for police said: “Police and highways officers attended and have closed lane one while the spillage is cleared. It is expected the lane will remain closed until about 2pm.

“Motorists are advised to avoid there area and find an alternate route if possible while the clearance takes place.”

The road was finally re-opened again shortly before 3pm.
