There is still time to enter the second Hinchingbrooke Rotary Club charity race and be part of the field going under starter’s orders on June 19.

An off-road course has been mapped out, starting and finishing at Huntingdon Racecourse and taking in Great and Little Stukeley along the way.

This year will see the introduction of automatic chip timing to ensure accurate personal timing.

Organisers say safety standards will be a priority, and Hinchingbrooke Rotary Club are recruiting stewards, doctors and first aiders.

Organiser Bob Hulstrom said: “Response to the 2010 race was fantastic. We are very keen that this becomes an annual event that will benefit the town, local runners and local charities.

“We have received entries from running and other sports clubs and individuals from as far afield as Leicester and London and are hoping to attract over 500 entrants.

This year’s major sponsors are Luminus Group, Urban & Civic and Tri Sports Plus.

Mr Hulstrom said: “We have also received good support from local businesses in terms of sponsorship although we will always welcome more.”
