A BARN fire in Steeple Gidding on Saturday is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews from Sawtry and Yaxley were called to the fire at Gidding Road at 4pm on Saturday (March 26).
They arrived to discover straw bales on fire inside the barn. Crews managed to drag some of the straw bales outside to prevent the fire escalating, and extinguished the fire using hose reels.
They returned to their fire station by 5pm.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
