CHARITY cricketers are already limbering up in preparation for Dame Norma Major’s annual cricket match in aid of Mencap.

The event, now in its 21st year, sees Dame Norma’s Invitation XI take on the stars of the world’s number one charity cricket team, the Bunburys., which this year should include England Women’s captain Charlotte Edwards and county players from Surrey.

This year’s match will be held at Alconbury Sports and Social Club on Friday, July 15.

More than �70,000 has been raised over the years, with the majority going to the Huntingdon branch of Mencap to make a difference in the lives of learning disabled people and their families.

In the past the event has attracted stars such as Gary Lineker, Courtney Walsh and Jimmy Greaves, while Sir John Major and Dickie Bird have assumed umpiring duties.
