A NINETEEN-year-old woman was evicted from her Luminus owned home after putting her neighbours through 10 months of drink and drug-fuelled hell.

Officers received a number of complaints about the flat in Gorham Place, Eaton Ford, of the woman and her guests shouting and screaming and knocking on people's doors after excessive drinking and drug taking. Other guests were seen urinating in neighbours' gardens.

A young woman who lived next door to the property said that she and her partner were unable to have a good night's sleep for the 10 months in which their noisy neighbour held late-night parties virtually every night of the week.

Luminus Group, responsible for the home, ended the tenant's reign of terror having tried to help her since she had moved to the property in May 2012.

Nigel Finney, Luminus executive director for operations, said: "Staff at Luminus had consistently tried to engage with the tenant to help her turn her life around.

"However, on this occasion, Luminus was left with no other option but eviction."

Mr Finney also said that the action taken would hopefully help the woman "to see that she needs to consider making serious changes to her lifestyle".

Pc Amanda Foreman, of the St Neots neighbourhood problem solving team, said: "We tried to work with the tenant, giving her assistance but she didn't work with the support worker.

"We are trying to cut down on anti-social behaviour and the message we are trying to get across is that you could lose your home."

One neighbour, a 29-year-old woman, said: "They were up all night every night banging and shouting, we didn't sleep for 10 months."

Sheila Heath, 69, who has lived at Gorham Place since 1996, said she thought Luminus did a great job of dealing with tenants but should employ a more sophisticated vetting system.

She said: "They need to be careful, young people shouldn't be amongst the elderly, a lot of people around here live alone or are disabled and vulnerable.

"Luminus are very good, I have never had a problem with them in that regard. They evicted a noisy neighbour that I had three years ago, it took 18 months but there's a lot of bureaucracy to get round."
