An investigation is underway into Tweets posted by St Neots Town footballer David Deeney.
Mr Deeney, a defender, is a regular user of Twitter and his posts have been brought to the attention of the Football Association.
An FA spokesman confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that it was investigating but could not provide any further details.
Lee Kearns, St Neots Town’s managing director, said the club was working with the FA. He said the player, who is 27 and currently out injured, was due to be spoken to tomorrow (Thursday).
A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said officers were aware of the tweets and were also speaking with the club.
