The PE department at Ernulf Academy has received notification that it has been awarded the School Games Kitemark bronze award for the academic year 2015-2016. The Kitemark, scheme, led by the government, aims to recognise and reward schools across the country for their commitment to competitive sport opportunities. In order to be successful in the award schools must demonstrate how they deliver PE, and most importantly, how many students are engaged in sport both within and outside of the curriculum. Opportunities must also exist for students to be involved in roles other than performing, such as through leadership at school, local, and regional competitions. Mike Bond, subject leader for PE at Ernulf, said: This is a fantastic achievement for all staff and students at Ernulf, recognising the significant developments in our school sport offer. Engagement within PE and school sport has increased dramatically over recent years, and this award is due recognition to the hard work put in by staff within the PE department to enhance the level of opportunity for our students.
