The 1st St Neots Scout Group organised their inaugural real ale and cider festival on July 24 as a part of their six year plan to raise the vital funds for modernisation of the hall in Bedford Street in 1936. Chairman John Routledge said: The festival was a great success we sold out of almost all the ale and cider. To inform the halls neighbours about the plans that they have to create a hub for the community and young people the scouts invited the community for a drink. Mr Routledge added: We invited people from the local community to show them what we are about and what we are looking to do a lot of people said how nice it was. With the help of John and Gillian Nunn of the Hog and Partridge Public House the group had an array of beverages for revellers to enjoy throughout the three day festival from July 23-25. We made a clear profit of just under £2000.00 which will be going to the redevelopment fund - we are already planning next years event.
