A St Neots mum-of-three is getting ready to pound the pavements of the capital to raise money for charity.

Jodie Wick, 26, of Crown Walk, Eaton Socon, will take on the Shine Night Walk for Cancer Research UK in London on Saturday (September 27). The challenge involves 26 miles from Southwark Park to Old Billingsgate.

She was inspired to fundraise following the death of her husband Paul's uncle Tony Dashwood, 66, in June as a result of bladder cancer.

Her grandmother Shirley Small, 78, also had breast cancer but Mrs Wick said she is now recovering.

She added: "I have been going out at five in the morning doing my training. I have got up to about 13 miles. It is quite refreshing some times."

So far, she has raised about £600, with half from sponsors and half from selling handmade jewellery.

This adds to the £1,225 she raised by taking part in the Race for Life in June.
